With somewhat of a shock, I find myself at the gate of the Park again! I have walked more than nine miles!
In what seems only an eye-blink!
I look at the time--yes, it is three hours since I entered the Park!
Amazed at how I could cover eight miles without even knowing it, another thought comes to me.
It is the story of Buddha, the Awakened One, how one day after his daily walk, upon putting his bowl away for the day and sitting down, one of his followers, Subhuti, knelt before him and asked him about the true nature of reality. Buddha's explanation became known as the Diamond Sutra, one of Buddha's best-known teachings.
The closing words of what Buddha spoke to Subhuti come to mind:
"So you should view this fleeting world--
A star at dawn, a dewdrop, a bubble in a stream,
A flash of lightening in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream."
